Chitchat | Ameliadoeslife

Hola!

So, thought I would just do a chatty blog post (as usual)!
This post will just be a lil' update of my life since I last blogged!

Firstly, I've moved apartments! I live with my sister, Verity, and her fiancé, Chris. We moved from a one bedroom apartment, to a two bedroom apartment, so I have my own bedroom! It's the best thing having your own bedroom when there's three of you (& a dog), in one apartment.
I finally got my bloody work permit! after being here for almost 3 months, I finally crossed the border and got my work permt so I can stay here for a year! Woooo!
I have a job as a nanny, which is good but very demanding and exhausting (even though it's only part time!). If you were wondering, I look after 6 year old twins, boy and girl, 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. Then a 10 month old boy, twice a week (it varies), full days.
We might be getting another dog! We went to look at Fox Red Labrador puppies today, they're not ready until April 7th, and they're hella expensive, but yeah, they're adorable and definitely a good investment for the next 15 years!

I felt like I had loads to blog about but now I'm thinking that I don't have any!

My next blog post will be a 'What I've been Loving' blog post, kinda what it says on the tin really. I'll just be blogging about any products/items/random stuff I've been liking for the past few months or so! Then because I'm all settled in and content, now I can start doing a few blog posts a week! And also I'll start to do a 'monthly favourites' which seems to go down well here in the Blogisphere! I personally love looking at people's monthly favourites.

Sorry for the long and probably boring blog post, but I had the urge to type/write.
I keep a journal most days which satisfies my need to write, but I love writing things that (hopefully) people read and enjoy!

Have a nice weekend!

New Years Resolutions | Ameliadoeslife

No way is it 2014 already?! Um, yeah, yeah it is.

So this year I have quite a few resolutions... And when I say quite a few, I mean a lot.
2013 was kind of a crappy year for me for multiple reasons, but it got better as it got drew to an end, and now I'm finally starting to be happy and trying to just live my life.

Right, so enough of the rambling, lets get into my New Years resolutions!

1. So my first one is the one I want to achieve the most, and that is to just BE HAPPY. It may seem like a really simple task, but it's not for me. I have never in my life been really genuinely happy for a long period of time. Don't get me wrong, I don't walk around with a rain cloud over my head, and I am a happy person on the outside, but it's hard to explain how my mind works. Maybe I'll do a blog post about it some time. But yeah, I just want to be able to be free and live life to the full (major cliché cheese moment!)

2. Stop caring what others think of you. Now this one, is really hard. I've been trying to do this for basically since I went to High School, but it's proving to be one of the hardest resolutions ever! Since I can remember, I've always cared so much about people's opinions of me, and it's one of the main reasons I became to low and pretty much never left the house this time last year. I've never been skinny, and I have always had a fuller figure and a bigger frame than most of my friends. Although I've never been called fat or anything, it's always bothered me that I'm bigger than I want to be. It doesn't help that I'm fairly tall, too. This is the worst trait that I have, that I care way too much about what people think of me. It got to a point where I would sleep with my hands completely covering my face and I would dream that people were looking at me, judging me. Weird, I know.
So this resolution is one that I REALLY need to work on. It helps being in a new country, and starting a new job and just having a fresh start. If everyone had the mindset of 'who cares?!' I think we'd would all be so much happier.

3. Eat healthy. At the moment, I eat so much crap, I don't know how I'm not bigger than I am. I love vegetables and fruit, and most things that are good for you, but I am actually addicted to junk food. My main downfalls are sweets, chocolate & cheese.
I'm not going to diet as such, but I'm just going to try and eat better, and cut out the bad stuff. So far it's not going so well.. I had 2 pop tarts for breakfast.. woops.

4. Start YouTube. One of my favourite things to do is watch YouTube videos, be it beauty related or not. I did have a YouTube channel once with my friends where we did chipmunk versions of songs, (yep, we were about 10 at the time). But I've always enjoyed making videos and editing them and just communicating with people. I have always threatened to make a YouTube, yet I just have never had the confidence to do it. I left my camera back in the UK, but once I get on my feet, I'm going to buy a camera and some softbox lighting, and start making beauty and non-beauty related videos! This really excites me, ahhh!

5. Start Yoga. Even if it's on my balcony, or in a class, I just want to start yoga!

6. Stop biting around my nails. I don't bite my nails, but I bite the skin around them, but it's so gross and I need to stop! Also, I want to get my nails done regularly and maybe get acrylics, so, gotta have nice nails for that!

7. Stop being so god damn lazy. This one's just simple. I'm way too lazy. So I'm making it my mission to leave the house at least once a day.

Okay, I can't think of any more, so that should about cover it for this year!

Tell me your New Years Resolution in the comments below!

Love,
Amelia xo

Updates | Ameliadoeslife

Hello beautiful people of the bloggisphere!

So I haven't blogged in like, two months, and I do apologise, but a lot has happened (as usual), and time just seems to really be flying this year, I can't believe it's already Boxing Day!
Let me just start by saying I hope you all had a lovely Christmas if you celebrate it, and even if you don't, I hope you're having a nice break :).
Right, so, what's happened in the past few months?
I moooooved to Canada! FINALLY. I've been waiting almost 3 years to move here, and I've finally made the move! I'm still currently here as a visitor but my return flight isn't for another 2 months and I have applied for a visa which should be here pretty soon which means I can stay for a year!
So I'm living in Vancouver with my sister, her fiancé and my dog we sent over in March, Daisy!
I could go on all day about how beautiful Vancouver is and how much I love it here. But I won't bore you any further! I'll keep this post short and sweet as I will be blogging so much more in 2014, I promise.
WOW. 2014 sounds so weird to say! If you haven't said it outloud, say it, you'll know what I mean then.. wow I sound like a loonatic.

So, look out for loads of blogging in the new year.

If I don't blog until 2014, I hope you all have an amazing New Years Eve!

Love,
Amelia xo

Missguided Review | Ameliadoeslife

Hello everyone!
This is just a quick what I'll call a '5 minute review', which may become a monthly feature on my blog! As you can tell from the title, I'm going to review the clothing website, Missguided.
So, I've been ordering from Missguided for about a year now, and I have to admit, I am so impressed with everything I've ever ordered from there!
I'll break it down for you.

Website/first appearance -
The first thing you notice when going onto the Missguided website it how simple it is, yet it doesn't lack in anything. It reels you in with it's statement home page, telling you how it is, and how to get there. I love how everything is so easy to find and the font is easy to read to. The brand logo has recently changed and I personally preferred the older one, but the new one is still very simple and it's very 'statement' if you get what I mean. Overall, the website and the first appearance score a 9/10 from me!

Prices and Quality
Missguided's prices are most definitely a winner for me. Most things are under the £50 mark and they're so worth it even if they are slightly on the pricier side, which isn't very often. The only thing I worry about is the prices increasing as the popularity increases, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. As for the quality of Missguided products, you can't go wrong. The finish and the quality of the majority of their clothing and accessories are just amazing. They last a long time and they're always a great fit. I rank Missguided's prices and the quality of the products a 9.5/10!

Delivery and Returns
I haven't got much to say about this other than that the delivery is always on time, and fast. The longest it has taken for me is probably 4 days and that's over a weekend. They often do delivery deals before 7pm on a week day where you get free next day delivery on orders over £40. It's just a brilliant website!

A little disclaimer!
I was not sponsered by Missguided and these are all my own views and opinions.

If you love a good bargain and bang-on trend online store,

September Favourites | Ameliadoeslife

It's October already?!
Damn! Where did September go?!

So, seeing as it's the end of September, I thought I would share with you guys, my September beauty favourites!

Considering I've been loving a lot of things this month, I think I'll get straight into it!

Maybelline's Babylips -

Cherry Me, Peach Kiss & Pink Punch

Yes, I am on the bandwagon with these bad boys. They are awesome. These are the only ones I have at the moment but I probably will end up getting them all eventually. I absolutely love the formula to these lip products. They're so moisturising and they keep my lips in tip-top condition. I was never really one for lip balms as I never really thought that my lips got very dry, but one day I woke up with quite dry lips and I thought, 'Oh, gonna' have to invest in some lip care products!', and around that time is when these little gems were released in the UK (where I live!). So, on my next drugstore visit, I picked up these three. I like them all in different ways, but my favourite by far has to be 'Cherry Me'. I am absolutely in love with this lip product. Not only do I love the formula, and the way it makes me lips feel during and after application, I absolutely adore the colour! It's a perfect soft, cherry pinkish red colour (I am bad at explaining, I know). It has officially become my, (wait for it) HOLY GRAIL product. Highly recommend these little guys. The packaging is so beautiful and they all smell good enough to eat.

Naked 2 Pallet -

Ha, another bandwagon product right here.
There's not really a lot I can say about this pallet other than how good it is. I got this on a complete impulse buy when I was shopping in London for my birthday, and I'm so glad I did! It's completely worth every penny as I use this every day and it is my complete go-to pallet. I definitely prefer this pallet to the original 'Naked' pallet as I tend to go for lighter colours on my eyes rather than dark, and the original Naked pallet has more dark shades than this one. I particularly like the shades 'Bootycall', 'Half Baked' and 'YDK'. If you fancy a high-end, every day make up pallet, definitely take a look at this one. I've also heard great things about the Naked Basic's pallet, so if you've used that, comment below your thoughts and opinions, and it may just have to be added to my make up collection!

Real Technique's Buffing Brush -

For a while I used the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to apply my foundation, and although I love that brush, the Buffing Brush is definitely my new favourite. This brush applies my foundations perfectly and it gives me a flawless finish afterward. I find that the Expert Face Brush tends to leave brush lines and it also takes a while to blend it all into my skin, whereas the Buffing Brush just glides over my skin and it seems to have a smooth and line-free finish. It's also softer and I don't feel like it's dragging my foundation over my skin. This brush reminds me of a stippling brush, just with denser hairs. I just think this brush is amazing, and it's even brilliant to apply pressed powder. You can find this in the Real Techniques Core Collection at any well-stocked drugstore.

La Roche-Posay; Effaclar Duo

I stumbled upon this product on a YouTube advert about a month ago now. The advert featured beauty guru's such as Tanya Burr, raving about this product and how it is their holy grail item.
So, of course I had to pick it up! It claims to reduce the appearance of imperfections and un-clog sebum-blocked pores. After using this for about 3 weeks, I can see that it helps my skin fight from blemishes and imperfections, but it hasn't stopped them completely, which in all honesty, I was hoping it would! I don't know whether my spots have gotten better because of a change in my diet or because it's not 'that time of the month' if you get what I mean ladies, or if this product is actually helping. But I've really begun to like this product as a primer for my foundation and as a moisturiser, as I find it's very moisturising and I don't feel like I need to apply a moisturiser after using this product!

Natio's Clay and Plant Face Mask Purifier -

I have been loving this little guy for about five months! This is Natio's Clay and Plant Face Mask Purifier. It's basically a gentle face mask that absorbs impurities and refines skin's texture. I use this product when I'm having a 'bad skin day', (we all have them). I just apply a thin layer on my face after I have deeply cleansed and I leave it on for about ten to fifteen minutes. The texture of this product is like watery clay, which I guess it's supposed to be! It goes on the skin really well and it doesn't irritate my skin in any way, and I have very sensitive skin! After I was this off with warm water, my face feels so unbelievably soft! I feel like my skin is rejuvenated after using this and I just really enjoy it! I don't know how much this retails for or where you can find it as I was given it as a gift from my sister, who I think got it from Australia. But if you're really interested in knowing, either comment down below, or use your old trusted friend, Google.

Garnier Intensive 7 Days Hand Cream SOS-Repair -

This is my all time favourite hand cream. It isn't my monthly favourite, it's my yearly favourite.
This hand cream is so moisturising because of the L-bifidus and Shea Butter, and because it's for dry to extra-dry hands, it means the formula is even stronger and even more moisturising! I only have to apply this hand cream twice a day (morning and evening) and my hands feel moisturised all day long. Because my job involves quite a lot of washing up, this helps keep my hands soft and smelling amazing! I keep it in my hand bag at all times as I don't think I could live without it! (slight exaggeration). If you'd like to see a 'What's in my hand bag' blog post OR possibly YouTube video, just comment below!

Bath & Body Work's Body Mist Fragrance in Venice, Dolce Berry -

This. stuff. smells. amazing.
I picked this up in Canada, as we sadly don't have Bath and Body Works over here in the UK! :( But this is my all time favourite scent, and I've had a lot of perfumes and body fragrances over the years! It's a perfect sweet, berry smell and it's just absolutely perfect. I think it was only five Canadian dollars, which is just amazing. My mum is currently in Canada, so I am definitely going to be asking her to bring me some back with her!

So that's all my September beauty favourites guys, if you'd like to see my non-beauty favourites, please comment below and also comment some YouTube video suggestions if you fancy!

Thanks for reading beauties!
Love, Amelia

I'M BACK BITCHES | Ameliadoeslife

Why hello there!

So after a 5 month unintentional break from blogging, I am back! I cannot wait to start blogging again, I know I didn't blog regularly before, but there are very good excuses to why I couldn't!
So, I think I owe you all an explanation for my absence!
For a start, I moved twice. I moved from my Dads first, then I was often staying at my sisters, and then I finally moved in with my Mum, and she only has an iPad, so I couldn't really blog on there, upload pictures and everything.
So you guys might know about Daisy if you've read my previous blog post, and she went to Canada to live with my sister, and I also went to Canada for a month afterwards to see her, my sister and her boyfriend in June! Since I've been back from Canada, I have gotten a pretty much full-time job, and I seem to still be living all over the place. Through all of this time I've had limited opportunities to use a laptop/computer, buuuuut... I have just gone out and purchased a new notebook (small laptop type thingy, it's basically a laptop without a DVD drive), so now I can blog whenever I want to, which is just awesome.

So, you may also wonder why the title says 'AMDB'? That is my new blog name/url just shortened. My new URL is 'ameliadoeslife'! I was going to chose 'ameliadoesbeauty' but I just thought, you know what, my blog won't just be beauty related, it will be life related, and everything that happens in it. I'm still not 100% sure on my new URL, but I cannot think of anything else that I like, but, if you think of something, please pop it in the comments and I would love to take a look at your suggestions!

Gosh I love blogging. I really just love expressing my opinions/feelings/life on 'paper'. (You get what I mean). I used to have a blog on a site called Piczo (yes, piczo, you heard correctly), and I actually had quite a good following. People seemed to like my blog posts because I just write how I would say things in a real conversation. I'm not particularly a fan of reading through blog posts which are boring, unanimated and often feel slightly forced... if you get what I mean.

Right, enough of this chattering malarkey!
I would really appreciate it if anyone reading this would comment blog post ideas down in the comments below. Ideas such as product reviews, monthly/current favourites (non-beauty and beauty related), outfit posts, everything.

Thanks for reading lovelies!
Love, Amelia.

I'M BACK! | UPDATE!

Hey beautifuls.

So, I am baaaack.
Thought I'd post and do a short update of my life in bulletpoints, cause everyone loves bulletpoints.
I can finally get to my computer cause my computer chair was absolutely stacked high with clothes (moving house)!

Right, so I'll start with the update!

  • I'm moving in with my mum because she finally has her own place!
  • My dog, daisy, is off to Canada to live with my sister and her fiance on the 24th May!
  • I have literally been living and sleeping everywhere lately, so I apologize for the lack of blog posts!
  • I've kinda been a bit of a recluse because I don't even want to go out of the house anymore, specially if it's on my own. Long story short - I hate everything about myself.
  • On a more happy note, it's only 101 days until my 18th birthday, which is amazing because I can finally apply for a visa then I'm buggering off to Canada!
  • Wow, when you make bulletpoints it seems that nothing has happened, but I really feel like I'm so busy!
  • I still haven't got a bloody job, which is just suckish.

Honestly, I swear I've done more than that... Oops.

I know I say this all the time but, I'm going to make a YouTube video tomorrow, and I'm going to make an 'April Favourites' video! :) So look out for that, I will post here tomorrow with the link!

I always seem so motivated at night, why?!
But, I'm gonna go to sleep now, so goodnight bloggers(:
